Client Solution: Royal Australian Airforce

Macquarie is teaming up with the Royal Australian Air Force to ensure that the new-look traditional Air Force blue uniform cuts the right stuff, the Minister assisting the Minister for Defence, Bruce Scott said.

Speaking in Canberra at the official launch of the new range of RAAF uniforms for the 21st Century, Mr Scott said Macquarie, in conjunction with Defence's Joint Logistic Command, has developed a quality Australian made product to meet the stringent requirements of the new RAAF uniform for use in all Australian seasons.

To meet the very high standard textile specifications required by the RAAF, Macquarie designed and manufactured two wool blend fabric styles. The first fabric solution was a lightweight 21 micron wool blend of 50% wool and 50% polyester designed for its high performance and heat management in the warmer climates of the continent. The second fabric solution was a heavyweight fabric based on a 21 micron wool blend of 70% wool and 30% polyester that was designed specifically for the colder climates and winters throughout Australia.

Mr Scott said that a return to the Air Force Blue from the past would once again clearly identify the men and women as proud members of the Royal Australian Air Force of the 21st century.

Macquarie, through its focus on customer requirements, quality and textile solution excellence, was able to provide the RAAF with a uniform fabric solution that not only met all of the stringent technical specifications prescribed by the RAAF, but also presented the members serving and protecting Australia in an elegant and modern uniform that reflected the tradition and history that has made the RAAF what it is today.
